Effect of rolling on the structure and mechanical properties of the Zn-0.8Li alloy

摘要

The effect of hot rolling on the structure and mechanical properties of a Zn‑0.8Li zinc alloy is studied. It is found out that as a result of hot rolling, the alloy dendritic structure is transformed into a granular structure in eutectic regions with an average grain size of 4.6 μm, and the primary β‑LiZn4 phase acquires the boundaries of the regions elongated in the rolling direction with the dimensions of 100 μm in the cross section and 300–500 μm in the longitudinal section. It is shown that the formation of the grain structure by rolling leads to a significant increase in the yield strength, tensile strength, and the development of plasticity.
