Chiral C,N-palladacycles based on terpene ligands

This review covers and summarizes the results acquired on reactions of the cyclopalladation of nitrogen-containing derivatives of natural terpenoids. Bornane and pinane derivatives of benzylamines are universal scaffolds for the synthesis of chiral palladacycles of various types. Problems of the selectivity of cyclopalladation of terpene ligand were discussed. It was demonstrated that the cyclometallation can proceed via different routes, either at the aromatic ring of benzylamine moiety or at the terpene substituent, depending on the selection of palladating agent and on the structural features of ligand.
