<p>Technology is playing an increasingly important role in the language-learning environment, especially in EFL writing. This scoping review aims to synthesize the recent developments and trends in technology in EFL writing from 2023 to 2025, during which Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) became popular. A total of 41 articles, all of which are high-ranking SSCI Q1 journals, are incorporated. The findings demonstrate that the mixed-method approach is the most widely used in technology and EFL writing. Moreover, sociocultural theory and collaborative writing are the dominant theoretical frameworks that underpin these studies. The scoping review concludes that more empirical studies are needed to examine the influence of technology use on students’ writing achievement. Three future recommendations are provided for implication.</p>
