Synthesis of MnTiO3 nanoparticles using date extract for efficient photocatalytic degradation of triphenylmethane dye
摘要
The present study reports the synthesis of MnTiO3 nanoparticles via an eco-friendly method using date extract as a bio-complexing agent, as well as their application as efficient heterogeneous photocatalysts for the degradation of methyl violet 2B (MV2B), a triphenylmethane dye widely used in the textile industry. The synthesized MnTiO3 was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The analysis was complemented by pHPZC measurements and band gap energy determination. To assess the photocatalyst effectiveness for the degradation of MV2B, various photocatalytic tests were carried out, and the effects of process parameters such as irradiation time, photocatalyst dosage, and solution pH were studied. A kinetic study using the Gabor Lente method was also performed. Furthermore, to evaluate the role of the date extract in MnTiO3 synthesis, citric acid was tested as a complexing agent under the same conditions.
