Assessing the risks of new service development using the integrated FMEA-SWARA-ARAS method
摘要
This research aims to build up an integrated risk assessment framework to specify and assess the risks of New Service Development (NSD) processes. To do so, the risks are placed in the framework of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), wherein their failure modes, causes, and effects are determined. In the next step, the three criteria of occurrence, severity, and detection are weighted with the help of the Step-Wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA) method. The opinions of the expert panel regarding each of the failure modes are then received in the FMEA framework to construct the final decision matrix. Finally, the decision matrix is ranked with the help of the Additive Ratio Assessment (ARAS) technique. The results demonstrate that the most important failure modes of NSD projects include customer preference for competitors' products (using competitors' services), entry of alternative services, and copying of services by competitors and new entrants.
