Modeling the influence of rural community information dissemination centers in the transmission dynamics of cholera

Cholera remains a persistent threat in low-resource settings, particularly in rural Sub-Saharan Africa where access to clean water, sanitation, and timely health information is limited. While conventional models focus on biomedical and environmental interventions, this study introduces a novel deterministic SIRB (Susceptible–Infected–Recovered–Bacteria) model that explicitly incorporates the impact of Rural Community Information Dissemination Centers (RCIDCs) as a behavioral intervention. The model captures both direct human-to-human transmission and indirect transmission via environmental contamination, with an awareness parameter modeling the influence of RCIDCs on hygiene practices and health-seeking behavior. Analytical results establish conditions for the stability of disease-free and endemic equilibria.
