Achieving sustainable wellness in adolescent students: construction and standardisation of mental health scale and establishing its association with physical health
摘要
The study developed and standardized a mental health scale for adolescents in India, highlighting its association with physical well-being. The scale incorporated key factors like emotional stability, overall adjustment, autonomy, security, self-concept, and emotional intelligence, addressing a significant gap in previous research by combining these elements into a single measurement tool. Content validity, convergent, divergent validity, and composite reliability were ensured, with all factors showing composite reliability greater than 0.7. A total of 666 school students across India participated, resulting in a 49-item mental health scale. Cluster analysis categorized students into three groups: High, Medium, and Low, based on their perceived mental health. Additionally, multiple regression analysis revealed that mental health has a 64.7% influence on physical well-being. This tool offers strong potential for use by practitioners, academicians, social workers, psychologists, and other stakeholders to assess mental health in inclusive school settings, promoting sustainable wellness.
