摘要

This study aims to examine the mediating roles of self-compassion and self-esteem in the relationship between positive childhood experiences (PCEs) and posttraumatic growth (PTG). Based on a sample of 381 adults who reported at least one traumatic event, we hypothesized that PCEs would positively predict PTG, with self-compassion and self-esteem serving as mediators. Data were collected through a web-based survey from 43 provinces in Türkiye, utilizing validated instruments: Positive Childhood Experiences Scale, Self-Compassion Scale, Two-Dimensional Self-Esteem Scale, and Posttraumatic Growth Inventory. Parallel mediation analysis revealed that PCEs significantly predicted PTG, with self-compassion and self-esteem partially mediating this relationship. These findings indicate that PCEs foster PTG by enhancing internal resources such as self-compassion and self-esteem, which facilitate adaptive coping and meaning-making following trauma. The results underscore the protective role of early positive experiences and provide implications for interventions aimed at promoting resilience and well-being in trauma-exposed populations. Limitations include the cross-sectional design and reliance on self-reports, highlighting the need for longitudinal and cross-cultural research.
