The Role of Rural Banks in Public Sector–Led Economic Development: Credit Access, SME Performance, and Sustainable Development in Ghana
摘要
This study examines how access to rural bank credit influences the growth and performance of SMEs in Ghana, highlighting implications for sustainable development. Using data from 265 SMEs in the World Bank Enterprise Survey, regression analysis shows that rural bank financing significantly improves sales growth and overall performance. By addressing credit constraints and information asymmetry, rural banks enable SMEs to expand, accumulate assets, and enhance productivity. The findings underscore the importance of tailored financial solutions and proactive credit assessment by rural banks to strengthen SME capacity, promote inclusive economic growth, and support long-term local and national development.
