Brief Exploration on the Evolution and Dynamics of Bank Stability Research
摘要
This study explores the evolution and dynamics of bank stability research. Specifically, it examines key characteristics of prior bank stability research, thereby developing a framework to guide future research in the area. The literature on bank stability was analysed using bibliographic mapping, relevant visualisation software, and the content analysis technique. The evolution and dynamics of bank stability literature were noted to have been significantly molded by the critical economic downturn. Next, the research concentration is notably centred on four observable key themes that emerged from the content analysis, including the central bank’s roles in devising appropriate monetary policy, banks’ strategic actions (competition, diversification) at ensuring stability, bank risks, and finally, the environmental issues. The knowledge structure on bank stability is summarised and presented, framing a roadmap for research in the future. However, the use of a single database potentially limits the literature coverage.
