<p>Wars, revolutions, social conflicts are ambiguous, giving rise to emotional debates among historians. The goal of this research is to present contemporary opinions and differences in views on the role of the Russian Revolution of 1917 among Russian and foreign historians, as published in international academic journals in English over the past five years. The main research method is historiographic analysis. Contemporary historiography recognizes the existence of three interrelated groups of political, socio-economic, ethno-national, and geopolitical prerequisites that led to the revolutionary events. This event continues to have a profound impact on the trajectory of the country’s development.</p>
