<p><i>Coronopus didymus</i> (<i>C. didymus</i>), a plant species within the Brassicaceae family, comprises a rich array of bioactive compounds with significant pharmacological potential. Traditionally, it has been used in ethnomedicine for its anti-inflammatory, hyperlipidemic and anticancer properties. However, scientific exploration of its medicinal potential remains underexplored. This review aims to provide an extensive coverage of studies on <i>C. didymus</i>, focusing on newly identified bioactive compounds and their potential biological effects. Additionally, the review seeks to consolidate current knowledge of the plant nutraceutical attributes, bioactive constituents and therapeutic utilities across various disciplines. A systematic literature search was conducted using PubMed, Google Scholar, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Web of Science, ScienceDirect, and academic dissertations and included studies published up to 2024. Selection criteria focused on experimental and clinical studies investigating the bioactive compounds and pharmacological effects of <i>C. didymus</i>. Our analysis reveals that <i>C. didymus</i> exhibits a wide spectrum of pharmacological activities, largely attributed to the presence of flavonoids, glucosinolates, nitriles, and other phenolic compounds. Scientific studies elucidate the diverse therapeutic potential of <i>C. didymus</i>, employing aqueous, hydroalcoholic, alcoholic, and various organic solvent preparations of its different parts. These investigations reveal its efficacy in antibacterial, anticancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hepato-protective, and radioprotective activities characterized by a high safety profile. This review offers a thorough examination of <i>C. didymus</i>, elucidating its phytochemical composition, pharmacological activities, and traditional applications. By synthesizing recent findings, this review highlights the therapeutic potential of <i>C. didymus</i> and underscores the necessity for further pharmacological investigations to fully harness its medicinal properties.</p> Graphical abstract <p></p>
