Natural compounds as potential anticancer agents aimed at ovarian cancer stem cells
摘要
With the rising incidence of ovarian cancer, ovarian cancer stem cells (OCSCs), which are closely related to its development, have received more and more attention. OCSCs are unique cells that pose proliferation and drug resistance in the multiple malignant progression of cancer, plaguing the treatment of ovarian cancer. Natural compounds with low toxicity and side effects can target OCSCs through various signaling pathways and cytokines to compensate for traditional therapies’ shortcomings and broaden the horizons of ovarian cancer treatment. In this review, the specific effects of natural compounds on OCSCs including blocking the cell cycle, inhibiting tumor growth, reducing tumor migration and invasion, and reversing drug resistance are summarized in detail, which is conducive to giving full play to its multiple bioactive roles in the treatment of ovarian cancer, and provides an important insight into the treatment of ovarian cancer, in the hope of providing new ideas for the treatment of ovarian cancer.
