<p>Coriander (<i>Coriandrum sativum</i>&#xa0;L.) is an aromatic herb widely cultivated and used as culinary and for health benefits. Historically referenced by Hippocrates and Dioscorides, it has been recognized for its nutritional richness and diverse pharmacological activity. Phytochemical investigations have identified a broad spectrum of bioactive constituents, including, flavonoids, terpenoids and essential oils, which contribute to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, neuroprotective and other pharmacological activities. The nutritional profile of coriander highlights its abundance of vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber, reinforcing its role as a super food and medicinal herb. The economic significance of coriander extends from agriculture to pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries. Moreover, advancements in drug delivery systems are being explored to enhance the bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy of its bioactive constituents. However, considerations regarding potential side effects, toxicity, allergenicity, and safety assessments remain crucial for its clinical applications. In this background, this review provides a comprehensive analysis of coriander, covering its botanical description, geographical distribution, growing conditions, methods for isolating essential oils and phytochemicals and its role in pharmacological activities, alleviation&#xa0;of metal toxicity, use as food preservative. Additionally, it explores coriander consumption guidelines, its application in herbal remedies and supplements and its incorporation into polyherbal formulations. This review aims to bridge the gap between traditional knowledge and modern pharmaceutical research, highlighting coriander’s potential for treatment of various diseases.</p>
