The study analyzes the demand for drugs containing monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) in Russia and clinics of Sechenov University to identify key trends. The analysis is based on data for government procurement of MAbs (2014 – 2023) and prescriptions in clinics of Sechenov University. The study includes 72 INNs collected from the State Registry and the Federal Treasury system. Government procurement of MAbs for 2014 – 2023 reached 933.8 billion rubles with a peak in 2021 (210.7 billion) and then decreased due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The leaders were pembrolizumab, eculizumab, nivolumab, bevacizumab and rituximab. In 2023, 36% of purchases were for domestic drugs, including products from international manufacturers. MAbs were used in clinics of I. M. Sechenov Moscow State Medical University for rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and oncology. Their prescriptions decreased in 2021 – 2022 by 25%, reflecting general market trends. The largest decrease was recorded for olokizumab. The study showed stable growth of the MAbs market until 2021, followed by a decline due to the pandemic and economic factors. The share of domestic drugs reached 40% in 2023 and is predicted to grow further due to the expansion of biosimilar production and strengthening of the positions of Russian manufacturers.
