HPLC Determination of Rutin Content in Japanese Sophora Buds

A method for quantitative determination of rutin content in Japanese sophora (Sophora japonica L.) buds by reversed-phase HPLC in isocratic mode on a Milichrom-6 microcolumn liquid chromatograph using a reference standard of pharmacopoeial rutin (3-O-rutinoside quercetin) has been developed. The rutin content in Japanese sophora buds was determined to vary from 10.96 ± 0.40 to 15.20 ± 0.51%. The error of a single determination of the rutin content in Japanese sophora buds was ±6.49% with a confidence probability of 95%.
