<p>The extraction mode of <i>Orostachys spinosa</i> herb has been optimized. Adry extract of <i>O. spinosa</i> has been obtained. The amino-acid compositions of the herb and extract of <i>O. spinosa</i> were determined. The extracts of the aerial parts of <i>O. spinosa</i> and the dry extract contained eight free amino acids, including the essential amino acids phenylalanine, arginine, lysine and, methionine; 15 bound amino acids, including the essential amino acids arginine, valine, lysine, methionine, and phenylalanine. The predominant amino acids were alanine, lysine and leucine. The neuroprotective activity of the <i>O. spinosa</i> extract was established in animal experiments against the background of hypoxic conditions.</p>
