Analgesic Activity of Methyl-6-Aryl-5-Aroyl-4-Methoxy-2-Oxo(Thioxo)-Hexahydropyrimidine-4-Carboxylates

The analgesic activity of nine new compounds of the methyl-6-aryl-5-aroyl-4-methoxy-2-oxo-(thioxo)hexahydropyrimidine-4-carboxylate series was studied using the acetic writhing method. Six compounds were found not to exhibit acute toxicity and to have analgesic activity greater than that of metamizole sodium. The actions of these compounds in experimental animals decreased the number of acetic writhings by 58–85%. This class of compounds has promise for further searches for biologically active compounds with analgesic activity.
