<p>This study examines the intersection of moral development and spiritual formation by reinterpreting classical cognitive-developmental theories through a pastoral lens. Drawing on Kohlberg’s stage theory, including the proposed seventh stage, we explore how moral reasoning can progress toward a transcendent orientation that integrates ethical principles with spiritual consciousness. The analysis underscores the importance of emotional experience, social context, and dialectical thinking in the development of mature religious judgment. We argue that pastoral action should move beyond doctrinal transmission to cultivate ethical judgment, autonomy, and the personal construction of religious meaning. This study emphasizes the value of community-based and dialogical pastoral models that recognize the unique spiritual experiences of individuals. Furthermore, it suggests that mature religious experience presupposes moral competencies, reframing the relationship between religious and moral development not as a hierarchy but as a structural and dynamic interplay. This reinterpretation not only contributes to the theoretical understanding of moral and spiritual development but also offers insights into practical pastoral care, particularly in the design of community-based models that integrate moral reasoning with spiritual guidance.</p>
