<p>Religious counselors constitute a large force in Ghana, operating mostly in Christian and Muslim communities. These volunteers may encounter ethical challenges in their practice, but this is understudied. This study explored ethical considerations among a sample of 19 Muslim and 71 Christian religious counselors through the medium of qualitative interviews. We analyzed the data inductively. Five major themes were generated, with subthemes: (1) Confidentiality and privacy; (2) Respect for counselee’s autonomy; (3) Relation with counselees; (4) Boundaries of competence; and (5) Time, delivery, and safety. The findings contribute to the development of ethical frameworks for religious counseling practice in Ghana.</p>
