Flat optical frequency comb generation based on polarization modulators and two-sided recirculating frequency shift
摘要
A new scheme based on polarization modulators (PolMs) and recirculation frequency shift (RFS) loop for generating flat optical frequency combs (OFCs) is proposed. In the scheme, dual-seed light is used for single sideband (SSB) modulation in the RFS loop. By using a polarization-maintaining optical coupler (PMOC), symmetric double-SSB can be obtained and two-sided recirculation frequency shift is achieved. The principle of the scheme is described in detail and verified. An OFC of 102 comb lines with the flatness of 0.52 dB and the carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) of 41 dB is obtained after circulating 25 times while no DC bias control is required. Compared with previous OFC generation schemes based on the RFS technique, our scheme achieves improved flatness and CNR, along with enhanced system stability.
