<p>This paper presents a tapered coil-shaped optical fiber sensor for fluoride detection in water. The proposed sensor enhances evanescent field interaction, leading to improved light–analyte coupling and higher sensitivity. The developed sensor showed a maximum sensitivity of 0.20&#xa0;A.U./ppm in the 1–5 ppm range with good linearity (R² = 0.98). The sensor also exhibited low hysteresis (approx. 2.69%), good repeatability (RSD &lt; 2.1%), and stable cyclic behavior. The obtained results were in good agreement with UV–Vis spectrophotometry. The proposed sensor is simple, low-cost, and suitable for fluoride monitoring in water.</p>

摘要
