Optical, TL and radiation shielding studies of YxSb10−xCa30P60 bio glasses
摘要
Calcium ortho phosphates and its derivatives (CamPn) are well known for bio bones and implants. However, still there is lot of scope and necessity of various multi-directional applications such as non-degraded, thermally stable, elastic and radiative capable bio glasses and its derivatives. In this direction, YxSb10−xCa30P60 materials are prepared and characterized by thermoluminescence, elastic and bio degradation techniques. Observed, results and studies suggests that the materials developed were transparent and glassy. Thermoluminiscence, trap-depth analysis and parameters advised that the sample code ‘ξ5’ found to be useful thermo-luminescent resource. Obtained range of both micro hardness and thermal stability acclaims that the samples prepared were mechanically hard. Additionally, we have reported the results of Y3+ ionic influence on vitro bio-activity studies of present glasses. Degradation results along with vitro bio-activity studies as a function of both Y2O3 and Sb2O3 concentration suggesting that the sample code ‘ξ5’ might be useful biocompatible resource. The deconvoluted FT-IR spectra of the glasses also studied. The optical absorption studies suggesting the sample code ‘ξ5’ exhibiting highest optical band gap value. Radiation shielding properties suggesting the sample code ‘ξ5’ exhibiting highest radiation protection efficiency and mass attenuation coefficient. CamPn and its derivatives are well known for being used in bio-bones and implants. However, there is still a lot of scope for and need for bio glasses and their derivatives that don't break down, are thermally stable, are bendable, and can radiate.
