Polarization and wide-angle incidence MXene-based metamaterial absorber for visible and infrared wavelengths

摘要

Now a days, plenty of nanostructured absorbers have been designing and investigating by employing various novel materials. In this paper, we employ a single-layer and ultrathin plasmonic absorber based on MXene, comprising of subwavelength-sized array of nano-cylinders. The proposed MXene-based absorber contains a three-layer device structure, having a top and bottom layer comprising MXene, a middle dielectric layer of Aluminium Nitride (AlN). It presents a large absorption window and shows an absorption value of 90% in a long operating wavelength ranging from 400 to 2600 nm. The discussed MXene-based plasmonic absorber does not change its absorption features by varying the different polarization angles and this is attributed to the symmetric structure of the constituent design. Additionally, the absorber also holds good absorption characteristics even at larger incident angles up to 60°. The proposed MXene-based absorber shows potential for various interesting applications, including photovoltaics, solar energy harvesting, and infrared imaging.
