A silicon nitride (Si3N4) filled PCF containing high birefringence and nonlinearity for optical applications

摘要

This article proposes a novel Si3N4-based five-ring hexa-circular photonic crystal fiber (PCF) that shows a remarkably high nonlinear coefficient (NLC) and birefringence (Br). Several distinctive optical features, including birefringence, nonlinearity, effective area, numerical aperture, confinement loss, dispersion, etc., are investigated utilizing the COMSOL Software. The simulation analysis demonstrates that a zero-crossing dispersion for Y- polarization and an extremely high Br and NLC of 0.22 and 2687.51 \({\text{W}}^{{ - 1}} {\text{Km}}^{{ - 1}}\) W - 1 Km - 1 are reached at the wavelength of \(1.55 \mu m\) 1.55 μ m . The proposed PCF, having extremely high Br and NLC properties, can be useful for prospective future applications in the areas of supercontinuum generation, nonlinear optics, polarization-maintaining, and so on.
