Chirped dark soliton propagation in optical fiber under a self phase modulation and a self-steepening effect for higher order nonlinear Schrödinger equation

We have studied the dynamics of various kinds of optical dark solitons like, chirped, chirp-free, M-shaped & wing shaped dark solitons using higher-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation. To obtain the exact analytical solution, we employed mathematical techniques such as the extended rational sinh-cosh and sin-cos methods. Our investigation shows that one can manipulate the shape of both chirp and chirp free dark solitons by properly tuning the magnitude of the self steepening and self phase modulation. The stability of the obtained dark soliton solutions are verified by using linear stability analysis.
