Emergency medical teams or community empowerment: why do integration and collaboration matter?
摘要
Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs) play a crucial role in disaster response by delivering essential healthcare when local systems are overwhelmed. However, their effectiveness can be compromised by inefficiencies, misaligned priorities, and inadequate integration with local resources. Furthermore, a baseline level of health infrastructure is essential for fostering successful collaboration. The World Health Organization advocates for the development of Emergency Medical Teams and the empowerment of communities. Although these approaches may seem conflicting at first, developing integrative and collaborative strategies would allow the development of both, synergically, enhancing their activities and ultimate impacts. This review examines how this synergy can be achieved.
