<p>The following paper is a review of the famous <i>polémica del meridiano</i>, in order to delve into the immediate strategies used by Guillermo de Torre to correct the misunderstanding with the Latin American writers who reacted negatively to the anonymous note in <i>La Gaceta Literaria</i> (15/04/1927). In other words, an attempt has been made to elucidate Torre's attempt to become a “transnational intermediary” (Casanova in Anagrama, 1999) that configures what we call here the “editorial vertex of Latin America”. This expression is deduced, as will be seen, both from his responses to Latin American writers in the context of the controversy, and from previous debates, in relation to the publishing world, unleashed in Madrid in 1923.</p>
