<p>This essay proposes a linguistic intervention in literature on the Phenomenon of Myth across different modalities: the philosophical, the literary, and the hermeneutic. The derivative paramyth is conceptualized as an opportune term in myth theory deserving wider attention as a verbal remedy to scholarly discourse on myth as it pertains to contexts of dispassionate, recreational, interpretive, irreverent, and exogenous engagements with myth in philosophy, literatures, criticism, and folklore. We further trace usages of paramyth in early literary studies to revitalize the potential of the term for discourses of reflexivity and positionality.</p>
