On ceremonial paintings by the Yao people (瑤族) and their acculturation from Taoist Shuilu paintings (道教水陆画)
摘要
In their article “On Ceremonial Paintings by the Yao People (瑤族) and Their Acculturation from Taoist Shuilu Paintings (道教水陆画),” the authors here discuss ceremonial paintings by the Yao people in the Jianghua Region (江华)of China. These paintings depict mostly Taoist immortals as well as a number of indigenous local gods and ritual celebration scenes. Further, this article argues that the Yao people’s ceremonial paintings are influenced by Taoist Shuilu paintings, thus representing an example of acculturation from Han religious culture and practices.
