<p><b>Objective.</b> To study the characteristics of oculomotor reactions on presentation of emotionally charged stimuli in patients with non-psychotic depressive episode in the context of recurrent depressive disorder (RDD). <b>Materials and methods.</b> A cross-sectional, non-randomized, clinical and psychophysiological study included 46 individuals with verified RDD and 40 subjects without mental disorders, who constituted the control group (CG). All subjects with RDD were undergoing inpatient treatment for a current non-psychotic depressive episode (ICD-10 code: F33.0–F33.2). The clinical assessment included a diagnostic interview using the MINI questionnaire and the original clinical-psychopathological chart, the Montgomery–Åsberg Depression Inventory (MADRS), the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS), the Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS), the Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF), and the HCL-32 Hypomania Questionnaire. Participants in the control group took part in screening interviews using the MINI scale. Oculographic studies of the participants were conducted using an eye tracker with a frequency resolution of 300 Hz. The study protocol included presentation of 80 pairs of images of male and female faces, both neutral and emotionally colored (with expressions of anger, disgust, fear, joy, and sadness). Images were taken from the open validated WSEFEPB database. <b>Results.</b> The RDD group showed a decrease in the total fixation time on happy faces, along with a decrease in the number of fixations on any type of stimuli, simultaneously with an increase in the mean duration of single fixations, which was not observed in the CG. A direct relationship was found between mean fixation duration on analysis of images of angry faces and the severity of depression according to the MADRS, as well as an inverse relationship between the number of fixations on happy faces and the MADRS score. The number of fixations on neutral faces showed a direct relationship with the duration of the disorder and an inverse relationship with the MADRS score. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.754, which indicates that the diagnostic model has satisfactory quality. The ROC analysis results demonstrate the validity of oculographic parameters as diagnostic psychophysiological markers. <b>Conclusions.</b> Oculographic examination supports identification of recurrent depressive disorder with satisfactory accuracy.</p>
