Factors Maintaining Chronic Inflammation in Mental Illness
摘要
This literature review addresses the factors influencing chronic inflammation throughout life, exacerbating the severity of mental illness and contributing to its progression, along with their mechanisms. These factors include infections, disruption of the gut microbiome, insufficient physical activity and being overweight, chronic stress, and metabolic imbalance. Manipulations of these factors, including treatments supplementing standard drug therapy, can contribute to a milder course of illness, improved quality and duration of remissions, and, in some cases, overcoming resistance to ongoing therapy.
