<p>A molecular genetic approach to studying childhood epilepsy helps to understand the role of heredity in its development and to provide a personalized approach to the treatment and rehabilitation of severe and often refractory forms of epilepsy. This article identifies the genetic factors causing epilepsy in children. The review addresses the most common mechanisms of development of genetically determined epilepsies.</p>
