<p>For more than 46 years, Quadrature Mirror Filter (QMF) bank has become an inseparable component in signal processing. An analysis of QMF bank is imperative as many design techniques and applications have been introduced since 1976. A brief discussion of the QMF bank for two channels with an alias-free system is presented. This work reviews the methodologies for Nearly Perfect Reconstruction (NPR) QMF bank design and its utilization in engineering and bio-medical fields. A comparison analysis is conducted on seven QMF design techniques for two major performance parameters. The study is done in the most understanding manner so one can fully analyze filter design approaches at a single end.</p>
