An intelligent HCI based tutoring system for child-centric learning environment

The scientific studies in computer based expert systems have improved in the area related to the disabilities identification and development of support systems for learning disabled people. Several disabilities have been identified with tools to help learners using various scientific methods. The children with learning difficulties have concerns in learning and capabilities to perform well in academics. An intelligent tutoring system (ITS) is an evolutionary computer expert system in the education domain that is primarily developed with the objective of teaching and learning process. In the present work, the ITS "Multisensory Instructions with Remedial Assistance in Child-centric Learning Environment” (MIRACLE) is developed utilizing machine learning models to identify learning disabilities, such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia. The MIRACLE performs identification and presents learner-specific content to the learners using machine learning methods. A total of 304 participants learning disabled and non-learning disabled were observed to carry out the experiment using a pretest and some non-invasive tools. The framework MIRACLE for the learning disabilities identification is implemented as a hybrid model with LSTM combined with SVM and Analytic Hierarchy Process. The results indicate the efficacy of the proposed ITS for the learning disabled.
