A protection scheme based on ensemble of linear discriminant analysis for fault detection in microgrid considering varying operational conditions
摘要
The need of the electrical power is increasing day by day in domestic and commercial sectors. The microgrid is best option to ensure reliable and cost effective power supply near the distribution area. However, protection is the main issue due to various types of the protection issues such as line and ground faults, converter faults and magnitude variation of fault current during grid connected and islanded mode. In addition to above, variation in the level of the current during unhealthy weather conditions can create some serious hindrance in the system. Therefore, in proposed work an ensemble of linear discriminant analysis based protection scheme has been proposed to identify faults and enhancing the invulnerability of the system under varying weather conditions. The tasks of the mode detection, fault detection/classification and section identification has been proposed under diverse fault conditions. The level of the fault current can change due to variations in the fault resistance in same or dissimilar locations in the microgrid. Therefore, protection scheme has been evaluated under dissimilar operating scenarios. The results in the Sect. 6 indicate that the protection scheme is efficiently performing the given tasks under both of the operating modes.
