<p>Climate change poses complex challenges that require multifaceted response strategies. Hence, the objective of this review was to consolidate the climate change response options, and review major determinants and barriers of climate change response options of rural households in Ethiopia. The review was based on reviewing of secondary data from peer reviewed journal articles and reports of reputable organizations based on their relevance to the topic. According to the review, households employ various adaptation strategies to cope with climate change, including agroforestry, small scale irrigation, soil and water conservation, agronomic practices, adjusting planting dates, livelihood diversification, and crop diversification. Besides, they adopt multiple coping mechanisms to manage climate change impacts. Key determinants influencing adaptation include demographics, education, resource availability, economic conditions, and environmental factors. However, despite a clear understanding of response options to climate change, rural households in Ethiopia face financial constraints, resource limitations, institutional and informational gaps, and environmental challenges that hinder effective responses to climate change. Therefore, this review offers key insights for stakeholders aiming to improve the livelihoods and resilience of rural households in Ethiopia. It stresses the need for future policies, strategies, and programs focusing on enhancing community resilience and livelihood capacity across the country.</p>
