<p>This study examines K65 (API X80) plate intended for large-diameter LSAW line pipe using thermal-cycle simulation on a&#xa0;Gleeble-3800 system. Test welds were produced from the investigated plate, and specimens from the welds were subjected to metallographic examination. Comparison of the physical simulations with the weld tests shows that thermal-cycle simulation reliably predicts the structure of the coarse-grained heat-affected zone across a&#xa0;wide range of cooling rates.</p>
