<p>Significant technical, economic, and environmental advantages of integrating casting and rolling justify the development and implementation of combined casting-rolling units to produce long and flat steel products. Direct integration substantially reduces energy consumption by using the heat of the cast billet. Furthermore, it significantly simplifies equipment by reducing its mass and footprint. It also enables the full automation of technological processes and drastically cuts the volume of emitted harmful substances.</p>
