On an elementary proof of the fundamental theorem of algebra

We present an elementary proof of the fundamental theorem of algebra, in which only the most basic notions of calculus are used. Considering discrete quantities instead of continuous functions allows us to obtain a proof that is fairly approachable but maintains the mathematical rigor.
