A review study of the thermal conductivity of oil-based nanofluids from the beginning until now, with a consistent method

Nanolubricants, due to the presence of nanoparticles in their structure, have significantly enhanced thermophysical properties, particularly thermal conductivity, and have found widespread applications across various industries. The principal innovation of the present study lies in combining a systematic review with quantitative scientometric analysis to identify research trends, key contributors, and existing knowledge gaps. Adopting a bibliometric and scientometric approach, this work provides a comprehensive analysis of research conducted on the thermal conductivity of oil-based nanolubricants from 2003 to 2024. Data were retrieved from the Scopus database and analyzed using RStudio software. The results indicate that 346 scientific documents have been published to date, with an average of 37.85 citations per document and an annual growth rate of 16.1%, reflecting the increasing attention of researchers to this field. MATERIALS TODAY: PROCEEDINGS is identified as the most active source with 13 publications, while JAMSHED W emerged as the leading author with 10 papers. Furthermore, India ranked first in terms of publication output, whereas China and Iran, alongside India, occupied top positions based on total citations.
