<p>Energy Storage System (ESS) plays a vital position within the Smart Grid and Electric Vehicle applications. The energy can be obtained from various Renewable Energy Sources but it should be stored in a proper way so that stored energy can be utilized whenever there is a demand/need by the customers/users in the Smart Grid and Electric Vehicle (EV). The major demerits faced by smart grids and EV is due to improper energy storage. A literature survey has been done to study various difficulties and solutions for the problems involved in the storage system to enhance the ESS performance.</p>
