Investigating degradation in the La2Zr2O7 + YSZ dual-phase innovative system under hot corrosion conditions
摘要
This study explores the complex degradation mechanisms of high-temperature oxidation and corrosion resistance dual-phase coatings, namely yttria-stabilized zirconia and lanthanum zirconate, in the presence of pure sodium sulfate, and sodium sulfate with vanadium oxide, a harsh corrosive environment. The research thoroughly analyzes the degradation processes, beginning with a ten-day exposure at 920 °C and then a four-day exposure at 970 °C for pure Na2SO4 and Na2SO4 + V2O5. The samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy methods. The pre- and post-exposure stages are identified using careful SEM cross-sectional analysis and XRD studies. The results provide subtle insights into the degradation mechanisms at play in this composite system under harsh circumstances. Through providing an extensive examination of the changes in XRD patterns and a literature comparison, this study enhances our knowledge of degradation mechanisms under hot corrosion and high-temperature pure oxidation. Differential thermal analysis and pure oxidation investigations support the stability of the proposed composite system.
