<p>The isobaric molar heat capacities as well as enthalpy increments of ThF<sub>4</sub> have been measured along with the enthalpy of mixing of ThF<sub>4</sub> in (Li<sub>0.59</sub>K<sub>0.41</sub>)Cl melt. Enthalpy of mixing of LiCl and KCl binary melt has been measured at 935&#xa0;K, and it was used for determination of ternary enthalpy of mixing for LiCl–KCl–ThF<sub>4</sub> system. Gibbs energy of mixing of ThF<sub>4</sub>(<i>s</i>) in LiCl–KCl eutectic melt (<i>LKE</i>) has been determined from the enthalpy of mixing data. <i>DTA</i> analysis was carried out for determination of partial pseudo-binary phase diagram along the ThF<sub>4</sub>-<i>LKE</i> isopleth which was used to determine the solubility limits of ThF<sub>4</sub> in <i>LKE</i> at various temperatures. The solubility limit of ThF<sub>4</sub> in <i>LKE</i> was found to be 3.0&#xa0;mol% ThF<sub>4</sub> at 935&#xa0;K.</p>

Thermodynamic and solubility studies of ThF4 in LiCl–KCl–ThF4 molten salt system

摘要
