Experimental investigation of heat transfer enhancement through free single jet impingement using TiO2-water nanofluid

摘要

An experimental investigation is performed on the heat transfer performance through free single jet impingement technique using TiO2-water nanofluid (NF). An experimental set-up has been fabricated to analyze the performance of convective heat transfer coefficient of three samples of TiO2-water nanofluid with TiO2 nano particle content of 0.1, 0.15, and 0.2% by mass in distilled water and compared their results with water. The effects of varying nano particles mass fractions, Reynolds number and nozzle-to-plate height on heat transfer performances of jet impingement of nanofluid have been discussed. The experimental outcomes reflected that there is improvement in heat transfer coefficient with increase in Reynolds number (Re), nanoparticle concentration and nozzle-to-plate height. The highest heat transfer is obtained for nozzle-to-plate height of 15 mm at Reynolds number 6600 at 0.15 mass% TiO2-water nanofluid.
