Physicochemical behavior of thorium in sediments from water bodies (marshes)
摘要
The physicochemical behavior of thorium in the presence of a natural marsh sediment (SPT) and its mineral composition (SPT-Ox) was studied by adsorption; both sediments were characterized. Thorium is efficiently adsorbed by both sediments (SPT and SPT-Ox); the maximum adsorption capacities were 12.79 and 14.84 mg g−1 for SPT and SPT-Ox; the sediments are heterogeneous materials and the organic matter does not favor the adsorption of thorium. The adsorption processes are spontaneous and exothermic. The desorption studies indicate that complexing agents can decontaminate the sediments. This study provides knowledge on the contamination, decontamination, and remediation of sediments.
