Natural radioactivity and radiological risk in soils of the Oued Beht watershed (Morocco): baseline assessment in a semi-arid catchment hosting a fluorite mine
摘要
This study assesses naturally occurring radioactive material in surface soils of the Oued Beht watershed (Morocco) and quantifies associated radiological hazards near a fluorite mine. Twelve composite topsoil samples from near-mine and background sites were analysed by gamma-ray spectrometry. Activity concentrations of 40K, 226Ra and 232Th range from 74.98–2004, 6.20–23.83 and 15.48–136.50 Bq kg−1 (means: 1101.99, 15.64 and 69.81 Bq kg−1). Derived indices, including radium equivalent activity (< 370 Bq kg−1) and outdoor annual effective dose (< 1 mSv yr−1), remain within guideline limits; only one site shows a marginal internal hazard index exceedance (1.022). Near-mine soils show localized 234 mPa enrichment.
