Recent developments in nanoparticle-enhanced radiotherapy for breast cancer treatment

Nanoparticle-enhanced radiotherapy holds great promise in improving breast cancer treatment outcomes. This review examines strategies for using nanoparticles, such as gold and silver, as radiosensitizers to enhance radiation therapy while minimizing damage to healthy tissues. Key findings indicate that targeted delivery systems facilitate selective nanoparticle accumulation at tumor sites, increasing therapeutic effects and addressing challenges like radioresistance. The advancements highlighted suggest that nanoparticle technology could lead to more effective, personalized treatment strategies. Future research should focus on optimizing nanoparticle formulations and exploring combination therapies to further boost efficacy.
