Electrodeposition of 63Ni on copper plate for betavoltaic battery application
摘要
As a high-technology product, betavoltaic batteries have unique properties that make them indispensable. The most important part of these batteries is the radioactive source that provides long-lasting energy. In this study, boric acid was used as buffering solution for the preparation of electroplate solution. Radioactive NiCl2 with activity of about 0.38 mCi was electroplated on a 1 cm2 copper plate. Electrodeposition duration and current were optimised. The method described in this study requires few parameters to be adjusted and controlled, is easy to implement, and achieves 90% chemical recovery in electrodeposition of 63Ni.
