<p>Inkjet printing allows for the creation of microdeposits, of a controlled mass and diameter, in predefined locations on a substrate that can then be easily identified and targeted for single-particle analysis techniques. The ability to produce cerium oxide microdeposits, a common surrogate for actinides such as uranium and plutonium, provides a non-radiological reference material for instrument calibration, method development, and performance checks. The method described, herein, details the production of cerium oxide reference materials encompassing a controlled range of deposit sizes.</p>
